Battery Point Lighthouse Keeper's Log

I began the day with a cup of coffee and some feed for our gulls.  While sweeping the walk, I met some nice people who I invited to return for our tours.  In the meantime, Teare had whipped up some fabulous blueberry pancakes.  This has been a tradition that we have continued where Teare makes them and Stu eats them...  We enjoyed a very relaxed morning.

We watched some football on TV, including a game between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh which went into overtime.  We had to follow the Browns game via an app which gave us the play by play description.  We were happy to see they won their first game of the season.  Teare and I both wore our Browns shirts.

After a lunch of meatball sandwiches, we watched a little more football.  Games begin at 10 AM out here on the west coast, which is so different...

We were all ready to move a bit, so we walked to the car and took a short drive to the Crescent City Beach overlook and Pacific Coast Trail.  It was a bit fogged in at this time.  We took in the overlook and had a nice walk along the cliff-side trail.

We continued up a trail which heads inland through a more mature forest and an abundance of ferns.

We retraced our steps and returned to the car and made our way back to the lighthouse.  When we approached the lighthouse, we met a family from Germany.  We visited a while and they watched the sunset from the old water tower planks.  We invited them to return tomorrow when we will be open for tours.  They agreed and we expect to see them in the morning.

We had a tasty dinner of Mexican Lasagna.  As we were sitting down to eat, we heard a knock on the side door.  It was already getting dark and we wondered who this might be.  It was a lady I visited with earlier this morning and she handed me a plastic bag half full of freshly picked blackberries.  It must have taken her an hour to pick those berries!

It was so nice to have the Ensor's join us over the past two days.  We were so thankful we could share the lighthouse, sites, and this time with them.  We visited some more until bed time.

Keeper's Bill and Teare wishing you a good day.
