Battery Point Lighthouse Keeper's Log
Bill fed the gulls, swept the walkway, and put up the flag. Teare served a delicious breakfast casserole with sausage and cinnamon roll this morning. It was just the fuel we needed for the hiking we had planned. After breakfast, we walked the tidal basin to the nearby hotel where our car is parked and drove to the Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park. We drove to the Stout Grove via the park road which winds around and amidst the giant trees.
The park road
We parked and walked the Stout Grove loop through the majestic redwoods. We took a side trail which ran along the Smith River and we walked across the large rounded rocks to the picturesque river.
The Crystal Clear Smith River
We continued around the Stout Grove and completed the loop. We stopped at a fallen tree and had a snack bar and an apple.

Afterwards, we drove to the Grove of Titans and walked the 3.1 mile trail. The trail was in great shape. There were some up and downs, but the walking surface was smooth and free of roots and rocks. The trees were gigantic! We met a couple from Goodyear, Arizona and another couple from Beaufort, North Carolina.
