Keeper’s Log Battery Point Lighthouse June 16 6.16.16

Hello!  Thanks for taking the time to visit the blog.  We hope all is well with you.

We had our first storm last night.  The power of the storm was awe inspiring.  We have two spotlights which illuminate the lighthouse and the rain that I observed from the lighthouse tower was coming down sideways due to the strong wind that was blowing it in off the Pacific.  The higher waves created a white rim of foam in the dark sea below as the waves crashed on the rock below the point.

In an effort to keep things fresh, I will list the days events in bullet form.  This will keep it concise and also illustrate the highlights of what we both considered to be a great day.

The day had a bit of everything…

  • a storm during the night
  • a sunny day to follow the storm
  • the date had beautiful even symmetry… 6/16/16
  • chores (mowing, weed-whacking, cleaning the lighthouse)
  • visits with interesting people from all over the world just walking around
  • a morning walk with my sweetie
  • seeing Teare soak in the sun while reading her book
  • great food - all homemade
  • tours with interested, friendly people
  • a Cavs win in game 6!
  • a lunchtime conversation with daughter Betsy
  • my pet gull, Fred, hung out with me
  • our friends at Sully’s in Medina sent a group photo
  • I was able to share it all with the sweetest person I know - my wife Teare

Here is a photo of some “buoy art” we have at Battery Point.

Have a great day and we’ll visit again tommorrow.
